DSV Transportation Chargebacks
Walmart uses an algorithm to assign a carrier method to each order. The algorithm chooses the best carrier based on the partner location and the delivery location, which helps to ensure the best possible experience for the customer. DSVs are required to ship all orders using the assigned carrier method. Failure to comply results in a Transportation Chargeback and may result in suspension from the DSV program.
Transportation chargebacks are applied when orders are assigned a certain carrier method and the DSV shipped the order using a different carrier method. A $5 chargeback is applied to each non-compliant shipment.
**Example: A package is shipped via FedEx Home Delivery (Carrier Method ID (CMID): 67) but was assigned FedEx Ground (CMID: 20) by the Walmart system.
All DSV Transportation chargebacks are issued by Walmart Performance Management.
DSV Supplier Agreement – Section 4 Transportation & Carriers
The terms of the standard DSV contract outline the standards that Walmart has set for shipping POs. The text below is from your DSV contract for Transportation & Carrier issues.
Supplier shall ship all customer orders in accordance with the particular carrier and shipping level designated by Walmart.com at a rate of at least 99% (“Shipment Accuracy”) and Supplier shall be solely liable for the cost of any upgrade in shipping level made at Supplier’s discretion without Walmart.com written approval. Shipment Accuracy shall be calculated on a monthly basis.
Chargeback Impact on DSVs
Walmart pays for shipping costs; unauthorized changes affect the integrity of the service-level agreement (SLA) and the promised delivery date to the customer, therefore providing a poor customer experience.
