DSV Carrier Standards and Expectations
Walmart assigns a carrier method to each order. Walmart uses an algorithm that chooses the best carrier based on the partner location and the delivery location to ensure the best possible experience for the customer. DSVs are required to ship using the assigned carrier method. Failure to comply will result in a Transportation Chargeback and may result in suspension from the DSV program.
DSVs are expected to comply with all carrier methods. If a DSV has a valid business reason to be exempt from a carrier method, the exemption request must be submitted to Walmart Transportation Team and is subject to approval. To contact the Transportation Team, open a case for Partner Support and select Orders or Shipping > Transportation/Carrier Questions > Third Party Carrier. Failure or inability to comply with all carrier methods may result in suspension or termination from the DSV program.
DSVs are expected to manage the relationship with local carriers to ensure all orders are picked up and scanned on time. Walmart does not manage the carrier relationship on behalf of DSVs. Failure to manage the relationship with local carriers may result in suspension or termination from the DSV program.
Carrier Pickup
Walmart does not pay for vendor pick up fees, you are responsible for paying these fees as required by the carrier. Most carriers assess pick up fees based on location, not an account number. Contact your local carrier representative to learn more about pick up fees.
Carrier Relationship Guidelines
It is your responsibility to manage the relationship with your local carrier representatives. You are an agent acting on behalf of Walmart.com and we expect you to conduct these relationships professionally and respectfully. Always provide accurate, current information about your Walmart.com DSV account to your carrier representatives and respect all carrier employees who provide support to the Walmart business. Failure to comply with the Carrier Guidelines will result in an immediate 7-day (minimum) suspension from the program.
Carrier Escalation Process
If you are having difficulty securing enough carrier capacity (pick-up volume) from carriers, you must:
- Speak with your local carrier representative and find out what volume they can commit to picking up on a daily basis. It is your responsibility to manage the carrier relationship and we request that you follow the Carrier Relationship Guidelines outlined above.
- If you ship less than 1,000 orders per day, reduce your Warehouse Capacity to the volume your carrier can commit to picking up. Failure to decrease your capacity to reduce your late shipments will result in late shipment chargebacks and/or account suspension.
- If you ship 1,000 or more orders per day, reduce your Warehouse Capacity AND submit a ticket to Partner Support by clicking Help > Manage tickets in Supplier One. You must provide a completed DSV Carrier Escalation Form when you submit the case. Walmart will review your case and the decision to request increased carrier capacity will be made at Walmart's discretion. If carriers are unable to accommodate increased volume, Walmart will recommend reducing your Warehouse Capacity.
- Prioritize and load all Walmart.com orders first on the equipment provided by your carrier, as escalations cannot include capacity issues due to other retailers' orders
FedEx Shipping
Please see the FedEx support guides below for detailed information about creating shipping labels using your FedEx account. DSVs must create a FedEx account for their own business and choose "Bill Third Party" and enter your Walmart.com account number. UPS Shipping
Please see the UPS support guides below for detailed information about creating shipping labels using your UPS account. DSVs must create a UPS account for their own business and choose "Third Party UPS Account Number" and enter the Walmart.com account number. For more details on shipping account numbers, please review Navigating to DSV Carrier Account Details.
USPS Shipping
The supplier agrees to pay USPS for shipping and submit an invoice to Walmart monthly for reimbursement. Submit your reimbursement request by filling out the invoice document and uploading the completed file to a Partner Support ticket. To create a case for Partner Support, click Help > Manage tickets in Supplier One. You must attach a completed invoice file to receive reimbursement for USPS shipping costs. For additional information and help regarding USPS reimbursements, please review USPS Shipping & Reimbursements for DSVs.
DSV Return Centers
Vendors can now choose which Walmart Return Center to have their items shipped to when a customer returns an order. Effective immediately, vendors should choose the closest Return Center to their warehouse* from the addresses below when entering the return address on shipping labels. This change does not affect in-store returns.
If a return is received at a DSV warehouse, vendors should reject the returned shipment so the carrier can deliver it to the appropriate returns center location. If the vendor is not able to do so, then they should communicate with their DSV account manager.
*All jewelry items must be sent to the Marlow, OK, Return Center.

LTL/Freight Shipping
If your item meets one of the three conditions below, our system will assign an LTL/Freight carrier method to ship the order.
- The item weight is greater than 150 lbs (including the pallet).
- The item length and girth is more than 165 inches. To calculate girth:
- Add the measurements of the two smallest sides of the package together. Multiply the result by two. This is the girth of your package.
- Example: 40 inches (Width) + 30 inches (Height) = 70 inches. 70 inches x 2 = 140 inches (Girth).
- Now take the longest dimension and add this to the package girth. The result is the combined length and girth of your parcel.
- Example: 50 inches (Length) + 140 inches (Girth) = 190 inches (Combined Length and Girth)
- Add the measurements of the two smallest sides of the package together. Multiply the result by two. This is the girth of your package.
- The longest side is greater than 108 inches.
