Supplier Onboarding: Welcome (GFR)

Updated 3 months ago by Merch Transformation Change Management

Introduction

Welcome! Supplier onboarding for Goods for Resale (GFR) is now within Supplier One. This process is your gateway to Walmart, Inc. resources and reporting. It's also where you set up your company to become a Walmart, Inc. supplier.

If you've already set up your user account, we need a bit more information about the company you are registering to become a Walmart, Inc. supplier.

Supplier onboarding occurs through a series of tiles (i.e., tasks) that provide us information about who you are and the company you represent. The system will guide you through the process of providing information for the company, tax, contacts, banking, diversity, and more.

Close the welcome message and click Let's get started to begin.

Reference the Supplier Checklist for more information about what is needed to complete tasks in the supplier onboarding process.

Supplier Onboarding Dashboard

Here's what the supplier onboarding dashboard provides:

  • Task progress bar: Track your overall supplier onboarding progress.
  • One tile for each onboarding task with its own progress bar (e.g., Not started, In progress, Completed):
    • Registration
    • My team
    • Product and insurance
    • Payment
    • Shipping and warehouses
    • Acknowledgements
    • Agreements
    • Quote (direct import suppliers only)
    • Factory (direct import suppliers only)
    • Profile (direct import suppliers only)
  • Need help onboarding? Ask your team members for assistance.
    • Click View team members to see existing contacts for your team.
    • Click Invite team members to invite contacts to your account immediately after landing on the supplier onboarding dashboard.
  • Resources: View attachments that you have uploaded during onboarding tasks.
Your supplier number remains in a pending state until Walmart reviews and selects your profile as an approved supplier. Once a merchant is ready to do business, you will receive an agreement to accept. After all internal approvals are achieved, a supplier number will be issued. You cannot build/generate POs until the entire supplier onboarding process is complete.
Tip: GSS Sourcing ID is an identifier used by the Global Sourcing teams in various systems and processes. Every GFR supplier is assigned a GSS Sourcing ID, but it is only used for direct import suppliers today.

Task Tiles

The supplier onboarding process is grouped into tasks, represented by tiles on the dashboard (e.g., Registration, My team, Product and insurance, etc.). The system will guide you through the information needed for supplier onboarding via these tiles.

You must complete all tasks in the Registration tile first.
If you are direct import supplier, your supplier onboarding dashboard will also show the Quote, Facility, and Profile tiles.
All supplier types must complete additional tasks in the Agreements and Shipping and warehouses tiles once the supplier accepts the agreement.

Complete Tasks for Each Tile

  1. Click Start task for the tile you want to complete. If the button is disabled, make sure you have completed all tasks in the Registration tile. If you have already completed a tile but need to make changes, click Edit.
You can also click Next task in the progress bar at the top of your supplier onboarding dashboard.
  2. You will see the tasks, or sections, associated with each onboarding tile. The example below shows the tasks within the Registration tile.
  3. Provide the information needed for each task. For some tasks, you can track your progress in the bar across the bottom.
Some tasks ask you to upload and electronically sign documents.
Some tasks are yes or no questions.
Some tasks require you to review and accept documents (such as agreements).
  4. Repeat Steps 1–3 for the remaining supplier onboarding tiles. Refer to our help documentation on the individual onboarding tiles for more information on specific tasks and/or fields.
A green check mark on the dashboard indicates you completed all tasks in the associated onboarding tile. The task progress bar increments up to reflect the current status of the supplier onboarding process.
