DSV Onboarding: SPS Commerce Services

Updated 2 months ago by Merch Transformation Change Management

Walmart.com has partnered with SPS Commerce to help you quickly and easily meet all of our DSV program requirements (e.g., purchase order acknowledgements, shipment notifications, inventory status updates and more). SPS Commerce supports many of our DSVs and we are confident they can help you as well. There are two options you can choose from:

  1. Connect with Walmart.com directly.
Testing and Certification: If you would like to obtain either an EDI or XML connection directly with Walmart.com, SPS Commerce can help you test and certify your connection. We will turn on your connection after SPS Commerce notifies us that you've completed training, testing and certification. After that, SPS Commerce will no longer be involved.
Price: One-time setup fee of $500
  2. Connect with Walmart.com through SPS Commerce.
Webforms and integrated solutions: If you would like to integrate with Walmart.com through SPS Commerce, they can help you get set up and continue to provide support after your connection is established. We will turn on your connection once SPS Commerce notifies us that you've completed training, testing and certification. After that, SPS Commerce will continue to provide support for their webforms and integrated solutions.
Walmart does not accept item cost updates from solution providers. Please send all cost changes to your Category Specialist (Buyer). You must receive approval from your Category Specialist to send cost updates through a direct EDI connection with Walmart.
Price: Price quote will be provided by SPS Commerce once you complete

Frequently Asked Questions

Question

Answer

How do I obtain more info or begin the process?

Fill out the SPS Referral Form. Once you have submitted the referral form, an SPS Commerce representative will reach out to you.

If I want to sell as a Walmart DSV, do I have to obtain either an EDI or XML connection?

No, Walmart.com DSVs are allowed to go live using only Supplier One. DSVs are automatically given the ability to update their inventory and manage their orders in Supplier One.

What if I want to connect with Walmart.com through another VAN provider?

You still need to complete SPS Commerce’s testing and certification process. SPS Commerce will explain how to get the connection through your VAN tested and certified.

I want to connect directly with Walmart.com via EDI or XML. Do I really have to be tested and certified by SPS Commerce for this new connection?

Yes, all DSVs who want to connect with Walmart.com via EDI or XML must be tested and certified by SPS Commerce. Walmart.com won't turn on your connection if SPS Commerce has not tested it.

What if I am a Warehouse (Owned) Supplier who already has an EDI connection with Walmart Stores or Walmart.com? Do I still need to obtain another EDI connection for the Walmart.com DSV program?

No, Walmart.com DSVs are allowed to go live using only Supplier One. However, if you require an EDI connection for the DSV program, you must get tested and certified by SPS Commerce. We are unable to utilize the same EDI connection setup for Walmart.com Warehouse (Owned) Suppliers.

  • Example: A Warehouse (Owned) Supplier is doing business with Walmart Stores via EDI. This same EDI connection can't be utilized for the Walmart.com DSV program; the Supplier must establish and test a separate, new EDI connection for the DSV program.
  • Example: A Warehouse (Owned) Supplier is doing business with Walmart.com via EDI for items being shipped to Walmart.com warehouses. This same EDI connection can't be used for the DSV program; the Supplier must establish and test a separate, new EDI connection for the DSV program.

What if some of my items have completed Item Setup? Do I need to wait for my EDI or XML connection to be set up in order to begin receiving and processing DSV orders?

No, Walmart.com DSVs are allowed to go live using only Supplier One. DSVs are automatically given the ability to update their inventory and manage their orders in Supplier One. Once SPS Commerce notifies us that you've completed training, testing and certification, we will turn on your connection and you can stop processing orders in Supplier One.

How do I connect a new or existing facility to EDI?

When you add a new facility for an EDI integrated account, the new facility WILL NOT be integrated automatically. You must ensure that your new facility integration is complete before adding/transmitting inventory. To request an EDI integration for your new facility, create a Partner Support case and select Integration Questions or Issues > EDI > New Distribution Facility. Please include the following details in your case:

  • Facility ID
  • Facility Name
  • Current Integration Type (e.g. AS2 direct or 3rd party solution provider)
    • The name of your 3rd party EDI provider (if applicable)

How can I control my order volume in Supplier One until my direct connection or SPS Commerce connection is turned on?

You can use the Inventory Spec in Supplier One (available on the Items and Inventory > Maintenance Hub page) to control the number of orders you receive. If you would like to lower your order volume, you can upload a new Inventory Spec in Supplier One. You can also stop receiving orders for any (or all) items by setting the inventory for the particular items to zero and then uploading the Inventory Spec. For more information about managing inventory in Supplier One, refer to the article Update Inventory in Supplier One (DSVs only).

How can I obtain the EDI and XML specifications for the Walmart.com DSV program?

Fill out the SPS Referral Form. Once you have submitted the referral form, an SPS Commerce representative will reach out to you and provide information.

How do I find various Item IDs to be reported on Inventory Advice (EDI or XML)?

Please review the How to Find Item IDs for Inventory Interfaces section in the Developer Portal
