View Variant Details

Updated 1 month ago by Merch Transformation Change Management

If you have items in variant groups, you can view details about the group in your Supplier One catalog.

The Manage Variant functionality is currently available for pilot users. If you are not a pilot user, please work with your merchant to update variant groups. To manage variants in Supplier One, you must supply all the items to Walmart to maintain the variant group. If the group has items that you do not supply, the page is read-only (i.e., not editable).

Looking for information on how to set up variants or other variant-related questions? Refer to these articles:

  1. To search for specific variant items: In the Products or Item configurations and hierarchies view of your catalog, click the Product ID search bar.
Copy and paste the Product IDs of your variants in the search bar. Remember to select the ID Type if you’re searching for multiple items (all of your Product IDs must be the same type). You do not need to select an ID Type if you’re searching for only one item. Then, click the Apply button.
To view cards for all of your items in a specific variant group, enter 1 of the Product IDs in the search bar and click the check box next to Show all associated Variants.
  2. To search for all variants and/or all primary variants: In the Products or Item configurations and hierarchies view of your catalog, click Filters. Under the Walmart.com group of attributes, click Item Relationships, and select Variant and/or Primary Variant. Then, click the Apply button.
  3. Once you've found your variant item in the item list, click the dots under the Actions column in the item table. Then, click Manage Variant.
In the item grid, click the dots at the top right corner of the card and select Manage Variant.
  4. If you do not supply all items in the group to Walmart, a message will appear that the page is read-only. Click Continue to view variant details.
  5. The View Variant Details page shows the Group Title (defaults to the Product Name of the primary variant), Variant Group ID, Item Setup Product Type, and Product Variations. The blue badge indicates the primary variant in the group. If the items vary by Color, the table will include a Swatch column.
If you have editing functionality on this page, refer to the Manage Variant section below.
Click the Close icon ("x") at the top right corner to return to the Catalog (e.g., to export your variants into a spreadsheet).
    1. Full Item Report: Download items that have active logistics configurations. This report also includes current DSV inventory counts.
For larger catalogs, we recommend using our Walmart API to download your report.
    2. DSV Export: Download and edit DSV Inventory attributes for the item(s).
    3. Export Insights & Edit Content: Download and edit Product Content and Site Experience attributes for the item(s). This export will include all available insights to help you improve the product content.
    4. Basic Export (Read Only): Download a pre-defined list of attributes in a read-only spreadsheet.

Manage Variant

The Edit Variant Details page shows the Group Title (defaults to the Product Name of the primary variant if a title was not provided), Variant Group ID, Product Type, and Product Variations. The table shows one row for each item in the group, and the Primary badge indicates which item is the primary variant. You can take many actions on this page.

You can only edit a variant group if you supply all the items to Walmart. If the group has items that you do not supply, this page is read-only (i.e., not editable).

Set Primary Variant

As a recommended best practice, do not change the primary variant unless the current primary item is discontinued or unpublished.
  1. Select the item you want to set as the primary variant in the group. Then, click Set as primary variant.
You will see a message that the primary variant has been selected, and the Primary badge will appear next to the item name in the table.

Save Your Edits

Click Submit to apply your edits to the variant group.

The system runs validations to check for common errors. If errors are found, click the Items with errors filter to quickly view and fix them before submitting again.

Track Your Variant Group Changes

Read Track Your Submissions.

Variant submissions will be reviewed by our Content Operations team and can be found on the Maintenance tab in the Submissions Manager. Click All filters and apply the Submission Type filter for Variant.
