Product Content to improve search & browse on Walmart.com
These attributes will vary depending on the item's Product Type and the selected Variant Attribute Names for each variant group
Create and Export Your Spreadsheet
In the left nav bar, click Maintenance Hub in the Items and Inventory section.
Select the Update Product Information on the Product Content & Site Experience.
Select your Product ID Type from the drop down, then paste up to 5000 Product IDs in the provided box.
Select Export custom set of attributes and select the appropriate attributes from each drop down menu based on the table above. Select Export once all attributes have been selected.
Complete Your Spreadsheet
Open the spreadsheet and fill in the new values for the attributes. Refer to the Data Definitions tab (or the row beneath the attribute names) for attribute definitions and data requirements. See the following sections for the maintenance actions you can take on the variant group(s).
By default, the spreadsheet will be named with the date and time it is created. Remember to save the spreadsheet in Excel Workbook, or .xlsx, format when done.
Add Items to an Existing Variant Group
Provide the existing Variant Group ID of the group to add the items to. Then, provide the remaining variant group attributes.
The added item(s) should have the same Variant Attribute Names as the existing items in the group.
Make sure to provide the values for the variant attributes – like size, color, etc. – under the purple column headers (Product Content to improve search & browse on Walmart.com) if the values are missing.
The added item(s) should also have the same Swatch Variant Attribute (if applicable) as the existing items in the group.
If you include a swatch variant, make sure to provide the Swatch Image URL.
Having too many items in one variant group makes it challenging for customers to find the item they want. We recommend having fewer than 50 items for a variant group that varies by a single attribute (e.g., a towel with 50 different colors). We also recommend having fewer than 500 items for a variant group that varies by multiple attributes (e.g., a curtain set with 25 different sizes and 20 different colors).
Update Variant Groups
Follow the instructions in the sections below to manage items in existing variant groups.
Combine Two Variant Groups
Provide the same Variant Group ID for all of the items. Ensure that all of the variant group attributes (Variant Attribute Name, Swatch Variant Attribute, Swatch Image URL, etc.) are the same.
If one of these variant groups was previously merged with another seller's variant group, your new larger group will be merged with the other seller's group on Walmart.com.
Separate a Variant Group into Multiple Groups
Provide a new Variant Group ID for the items you want to split from the group and ensure all of the variant group attributes are provided.
Create a New Variant Group
Provide a common Variant Group ID for all of the standalone items so that they are grouped together. Then provide all of the variant group attributes for each item in the group.
Remove Items from a Variant Group
Select Yes from the Remove from Variant Group? drop-down menu.
Add Attributes to a Variant Group
Update the Variant Attribute Names.
For example: If the group previously varied by clothing size and color, and you also want it to vary by sleeve length, add sleeveLengthStyle in the Variant Attribute Names. Make sure that you provide values for the added Variant Attribute Names under the purple column headers (Product Content to improve search & browse on Walmart.com) if the values are missing. Remember that variant groups can vary by up to three attributes.
Update Primary Variant
For Is Primary Variant, select Yes for the new primary and No for the current primary.
As a recommended best practice, do not change the primary variant unless the current primary item is discontinued or unpublished.
Update Swatch Images
Provide the Swatch Image URL and/or select the Swatch Variant Attribute.
Your spreadsheet must include columns for Variant Group ID, Is Primary Variant, Variant Attribute Names, Swatch Images, and the variation values (such as Color, Clothing Size, etc.) to ensure swatch submissions process successfully. If you use Workhorse to upload Fashion imagery, please continue to use your existing processes to upload swatch images.
Submit Your Spreadsheet
Please follow the current process of uploading your completed spreadsheet into Supplier One using the upload button found in the upper righthand portion of the screen.
Note: Once submitted all variant group maintenance activities will route to the Content Acquisitions Team for approval.
Currently, the spreadsheet does not support maintenance of a group that belongs to different Supplier IDs.
Variant submissions will be reviewed by our Content Operations team and can be found on the Maintenance tab in the Submissions Manager. Click All filters and apply the Submission Type filter for Variant.
Not Seeing All Variant Options on Walmart.com?
